Day time paddle - Swanton Morley , Tuesday 11th May 2021 Maximum of 6 paddlers
A paddle on the River Wensum in the Swanton Morley area. Its been years since I paddled here. Local knowledge has been sought and received for this paddle but be prepared for the unexpected like fallen trees. By all means bring secateurs and saw.
Meet at 1015 hrs at Mill Street/ Dereham Road , Swanton Morley - opposite Swanton Lodge , that's on the B road coming from the A1067 (Fakenham Road ) from Bawdeswell. If heading out from Norwich , turn left after you pass the Bawdeswell Garden Centre which is on the right hand side of the road. In due course you will see a weir, water channel and 'parking area' alongside the road which is where we are likely to park up and launch from. If coming from the above direction and you come to a sharp bend and a bridge crossing the river you've come to far!
Meet launch site : OS ref 023187 . No I don't have a post code.
Wear your usual paddling gear, bring food and drink appropriate to the weather. You may have the opportunity to shoot some drops so bear that in mind when deciding what craft to paddle. If this sounds like you bring a helmet. Please respect social distancing guidance and have available at all times, mask , sanitiser and bag for any rubbish.
No toilet facilities are likely to be available and no dogs are to be brought on this activity .
If you wish to borrow club craft / equipment please let me know by 1800 hrs Sunday 9th May 2021 , so that can be arranged otherwise I expect to see everyone at the meeting point described above.
