Description

A circular trip starting and finishing at South Walsham Broad visiting Malthouse Broad, the River Bure and St Bennets abbey. It will involve a lengthy canoe portage along road and track , for which wheels will be a necessity. It is however less than the longest portage on the round Norwich trip. The paddle and portage in total is less than 10 miles. A trip first paddled in Jan 2019 , if interested look at the clubs face book page to see photos of those paddling it then. There are canoe trolleys at the club .

Kayaker who may wish join us should consider how they can portage their craft by the use of a trolley - something to practice in advance or seek a canoeist willing to put a kayak on top of their canoe , loaded on a trolley.

Start by meeting up at the club 0930 hrs , back by mid afternoon. By arrangement self contained paddlers can join us at the start , that's at South Walsham Broad staithe at 1015 hrs.

Do remember to wear / bring warm clothing and water proofs . Also packed lunch, snack and hot drink. I would also like you to have with you and accessible at all times, face mask , sanitiser , bag for any rubbish etc. They may not be needed but should be available.

Please use online sign up to let me know that you would like to come, whether you are self contained, and if you have any queries. If you are tandem paddling , both paddlers need to sign up. If you have a BCU / Broads authority licence please bring it with you.
