Description

Info / Plan as at 21st October 2020. An opportunity to paddle on the former North Walsham / Dilham canal and walk alongside the higher reaches of the canal.

Starting from the Club , travel to the get in point. I'm proposing that be Ebridge Mill, Happisburgh Road, North Walsham . OS Ref 312298. There is a grassed area for parking just past Ebridge Mill (Bearing the name Cubbitt and Walker) , adjacent to the mill pool by the remains of a lock.

We will probably start paddling from there heading up stream along the cleared area of the canal to ensure we get a paddle! Once we reach the top of the stretch of the canal in water , we leave the craft and walk alongside the canal to the outskirts of North walsham via Pigneys Wood , returning on the other side of the canal. You will need reasonable footwear for this element of the trip.

For those who have asked, In terms of boat choice I'm happy for you to paddle what ever you are happy to paddle.

The intention is that we all have an enjoyable paddle / walk getting to know these stretch of the North Walsham/ Dilham canal. Please bring a packed lunch/drink and suitable clothing for the time of year/ weather .

Meet at club 0930 hrs , collect boats etc and travel to Ebridge Mill. For those self contained a time can be determined to meet you at Ebridge Mill . This option might appeal for those with corona virus concerns, about traveling in the proximity of others. there is no car shuttle involved once we get to Ebridge Mill. Please bring mask (esp for those who might share a car) sanitizer, wipes, bag for rubbish ,these might not be used but i would like you to have them available.
