Eagle Canoe Club- short day trip Sunday 11th February 2018
A change of river, a change of trip as the original proposed trip is not currently accessible.
The alternative is set out below.
What: A short day trip on the River Wensum, from Costessey Mill , back down to the club a distance of approx.. 6 miles.
When : Sunday 11th February 2018 . Meet at Eagle Canoe Club : 9.30 am.
The trip is probably suitable for those around 2 star standard and who can paddle this sort of distance.If you have paddled up to Hellesdon Mill and back on a club night you will be OK. There may be some stretches which are partially blocked with branches, over hanging vegetation etc so you need to be confident and capable of navigating through / round these sort of obstructions. Experienced 'old hands' on such trips may like to bring hand saw, loppers, secateurs etc.
Bearing in mind the time of year, you need to be dressed appropriately for this trip both for warmth and to stay dry. Bring food, hot drink etc. There are no changing facilities, toilets at the get in , nor during the trip until we get back to the club.
What's involved?
Subject to who is paddling, cars available I'm aiming to.... Drive to Costessey Mill , put in and start paddling. Upon return to club, boats/kit put away. Drivers returned to Costessey Mill to pick up their cars.
As usual we are dependent upon members using their vehicles to do the necessary moving of canoes / kayaks and car/driver shuttling. Those with roof rack space especially welcome!. A trailer is not laid on for this trip. For those interested and at the club on Wednesday (7th Feb) try to identify who you can travel with to save time on Sunday.
